Overview
Scores for a regatta, finishes in a given heat/fleet and fleet assignments can be shared from ezRegatta using the standard Apple Share Sheet which works with standard apps and shortcuts. This means, for example that a scoresheet can be printed, posted to a WhatsApp group, sent via a message or an email, or posted to social media (more about Facebook and PDF files later...)
What can be shared/printed?
There are three types of page that can be shared:
1. The regatta results page that is activated from the main regatta detail page
2. The fleet assignments for a race, which is shown on the fleets panel when a multi fleet race is selected.
3. A single fleet assignment, or finishing places for heats which have raced already.
Sharing With the Apple Share Sheet
The above reports have a Share button at the top-right. This will create a PDF (or Text) file of the report with multiple pages for regatta scores with over 40 skippers.
Your iPhone or iPad will give you a standard set of options to send the file; in a message, post to WhatsApp (if installed), Print etc.
Creating a Share Group
If you loaded the regatta from the AMYA, or have added skippers including their email and/or cell phone numbers, there is a quick way to set up the group to share your results/fleets with them.
At the bottom of the main regatta details page there is is a "Contact Skippers" area with a button on the right. This allows you to copy either the email addresses or the cell numbers to your clipboard. From there, you can open Mail or Messages or WhatsApp and start a new email/conversation, paste the skippers in the "To" area and invite them to receive results.
When you have new results to share the Apple share sheet will let you pick the App you are using and select the group you created to receive them. A couple of clicks and you are done
Unfortunately regular Facebook accounts do not allow PDF files to be posted, but we have created a "Shortcut" that can be added to your sharing options that will let you convert these PDF reports to an image and post to Facebook with one click.
